Community Guidelines

A few simple rules so everyone has a good time.

Last updated October 16, 2026

TL;DR
  • Treat strangers the way you’d want to be treated.
  • 18+ only. Nothing sexual involving minors — ever.
  • No harassment, hate, threats, unwanted explicit messages, scams, spam or doxxing.
  • See something bad? Hit Report. Break the rules and you’ll be banned.

Gibbur works because people show up curious and kind. These guidelines explain what’s welcome and what isn’t. They are part of our Terms of Service, and they apply to every chat, every message and every user — with or without an account.

Be respectful

You’re talking to a real person. Disagree, debate, joke around — that’s half the fun. But don’t be cruel. If a conversation isn’t working for you, just hit New chat and move on. No one owes anyone a conversation, and skipping is always fine.

18+ only

Gibbur is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it, and you confirm this every time you tick the box on the chat page. If someone tells you they are under 18, or you have good reason to think so, end the chat and report them. Lying about your age gets you banned.

Zero tolerance: sexual content involving minors

No exceptions.

Any sexual content involving minors — images, text, links, requests, “role-play” or attempts to groom or contact a minor — results in an immediate permanent ban. We report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and law enforcement. You can also report child sexual exploitation directly to NCMEC’s CyberTipline at report.cybertip.org.

No harassment, hate or threats

  • Don’t bully, insult, stalk or intimidate people.
  • No hate speech or slurs targeting people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, disability or similar traits.
  • No threats of violence, and no encouraging anyone to hurt themselves or others.
  • Don’t send sexually explicit messages to someone who hasn’t clearly said they want that conversation. When in doubt, don’t.
  • Never share, threaten to share or link to intimate images of anyone without their consent.
  • “No” or a skip means no. Don’t keep pushing.

No sextortion, blackmail or scams

Don’t try to get money, gift cards, crypto, passwords or personal details from anyone. Threatening to expose someone unless they pay or comply (sextortion or blackmail) is a crime, and we’ll treat it as one. No phishing, fake giveaways, romance or investment scams.

No spam, bots or advertising

  • No bots, scripts or automated messages.
  • No advertising, self-promotion or selling.
  • No link dropping — pasting links at strangers is a classic bot move. Links are blocked at the start of a chat for this reason.
  • No copy-pasting the same message over and over.
  • No scraping or harvesting data from Gibbur.

No sharing other people’s personal info

Don’t post anyone’s real name, address, phone number, workplace, social profiles or photos without their permission — and don’t record, screenshot or publish someone’s chat without their consent (reporting abuse to us or the police is the exception).

No illegal activity

Don’t use Gibbur to buy, sell or promote anything illegal, such as drugs, weapons or stolen data, or to plan or encourage crimes.

No impersonation

Don’t pretend to be someone else in a way that misleads or harms people — and never pretend to be a Gibbur moderator or staff member. We will never ask for your password in a chat.

No evading bans

If you’ve been banned, the ban applies to you, not just your account, IP address or browser. Using new accounts, VPNs, proxies or other tricks to get around a ban or our rate limits will extend the ban.

Protect yourself

  • Stay anonymous. Don’t share your full name, address, school, workplace, phone number or social media handles.
  • Don’t send money or gift cards to anyone you meet here, no matter the story.
  • Be careful with links. Don’t click links from strangers or download files they send you elsewhere.
  • Think before you share. Anything you type can be copied by the other person. Chats are moderated, not end-to-end encrypted.
  • Trust your gut. If something feels off, skip. You can always start a new chat.
  • Be wary of moving off-platform. Requests to switch to another app quickly are a common scam tactic.

More tips are in our Safety Center.

How to report

  1. Press Report in the chat and choose a reason. This flags the chat for our moderators.
  2. For anything urgent or that needs more detail, email abuse@gibbur.com.
  3. For child sexual exploitation, also report to NCMEC’s CyberTipline.
  4. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services.

Please only report real problems. False reports waste moderators’ time and can get you banned too.

Consequences

Depending on how serious the violation is, we may:

  • Warn you or end the chat;
  • Temporarily ban you — this can happen automatically if you are reported repeatedly or trip our spam filters;
  • Permanently ban you by account, IP address and/or browser; and
  • Refer you to law enforcement for serious or illegal conduct, especially anything involving minors, threats or extortion.

We can skip straight to a permanent ban for severe violations. If you think we got it wrong, email abuse@gibbur.com and a human will take a look.

Thanks for helping keep Gibbur a good place to meet people.
